Microsoft has opted-in this new version for Chromium, the open-source web browser project that served as the basis for creating Chrome.

With a new image, the browser Edge Microsoft has everything ready for your arrival in Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android for January 15, 2020. The successor of Internet Explorer, which had its conversion in Edge four years ago, now bets on Chromium, the open-source web browser project that served as the basis for creating Chrome, launched in 2008.

Microsoft began evaluating the commitment to Chromium for its web browser at the end of 2018, and the first preliminary version of Edge under this platform was launched in a beta version in August. Among its outstanding features, the browser has the synchronization of passwords and search history, in addition to maintaining bookmarks and settings between different versions of the browser for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

The announcement was accompanied by a radical redesign of the Edge image, which so far maintained the appearance of the letter that identified Internet Explorer. For this relaunch, the logo resembles a wave with bluish, turquoise, and gradient green tones. Microsoft also confirmed that there would be a version of Edge for Linux, but in this case, it did not provide more details about the availability date.

The renewed Edge seeks to resume the initiative against Chrome, used by 60 percent of Internet users, followed by Safari, the option used on Apple computers. Microsoft is far from this discussion, and recently a report by the consultant Ahrefs said that 14.72% of Bing's entire search volume was concentrated on the term Google.

"The most interesting observation is that global searches use Bing to download Chrome, the Google browser. Users do not use Bing and are not satisfied with Microsoft's Edge, which uses Bing as the default search engine," the consultant added.
