After a somewhat slower deployment than usual, the tool to draw on images and highlight text is now available in Google Photos for Android.

Still, since this new feature is not as visible as you might expect, we have decided to develop a guide with the steps to follow to draw or scribble on images using only Google Photos.

Draw or mark text in Google Photos for Android.

Before you can use this feature, you need to make sure you have the latest version of Google Photos available in the Play Store. Once downloaded and installed, open the app and follow these steps:

In Google Photos, go to the photo you want to edit
To draw, touch the pen icon and choose the color
To mark text or essential parts of an image, select the underline icon
Save the image by tapping on "Done" in the upper right of the screen
In addition to the above, this tool also allows you to add text on pictures, something useful for taking notes or before sharing photos through social networks or messaging apps.

It should be noted that if you do not have a backup copy of the images edited in Google Photos. The photos in which it has been drawn will be saved as a separate image from the original, within a storage folder called "Markup."
